Securing M&S’ future in Amersham
As leaseholders, M&S has been looking for a site to secure its long-term future in Amersham ahead of the lease expiry of our Sycamore Road store in 2028.
At White Lion Road, we can create a show-stopping store for local residents in Amersham, Little Chalfont and the wider area, offering over 2,400 more products and allowing our team of over 40 colleagues to transfer across to the new store once open.
We’re excited to bring forward plans for this multi-million-pound investment to secure M&S’ long-term future in Amersham.
A Boost for Local Jobs
The new store would create over 50 new local jobs, including full-time, part-time and seasonal opportunities, alongside 40 existing roles – supporting up to 100 jobs in total.
If planning is approved, we want to work with local contractors and specialists wherever possible, contributing to the local economy from the outset.
Our Marks & Start employability scheme, delivered in partnership with The King’s Trust, helps young people at a disadvantage in their job hunt gain valuable retail work experience. Over 800 young people across the South East have been supported through the scheme since launch.
Not Just Any Career provides 1,000 graduate-style training places for 18-24 year olds across the UK, helping them to build skills and confidence.
Supporting Local Suppliers
M&S Food is sourced to the highest standards, from 100% traceable British beef to RSPCA Assured milk.
We’re proud to support British farming through long-standing relationships with more than 9,500 Select Farm partners across the UK, including 63 farms in Buckinghamshire.
The proposed new Foodhall would strengthen M&S' commitment to local sourcing, bringing high-quality, locally produced food to customers while supporting resilient regional supply chains and farming businesses.
Alongside its farming partnerships, M&S supports more than 1,800 supplier jobs across the wider Home Counties through its network of local food and drink producers, making a significant contribution to the regional economy and helping sustain skilled employment across the region.
